Those who are already on acne treatment may need to make some modifications in their treatment system to combat the effects of the season. Here are some tips that will help you to follow a good acne treatment system during summer:

Controlling the excess secretion of oil

The warm temperatures in the summer cause the sebaceous glands to work overtime, excreting more oil. This excess oil can be controlled by thoroughly washing your face with a mild cleanser, twice a day. If your skin is exceptionally oily then may be you can consider, cleansing in the midday too. You can also try using an oil-absorbing clay mask few times in a week. This should become a part of your acne treatment regime.

Keeping your skin clean helps speedup the acne treatment system in many ways. It clears the pores, reducing the chances of clogging. This helps in speeding up the treatment of acne. However, sometimes, too much of cleansing can cause your skin to become too dry. This can again worsen or aggravate your acne breakouts.

It is therefore recommended that you consult your dermatologist to find out which type of cleanser would be perfect for your skin type, during summer.

Use a light moisturizer

You may need a heavy moisturizer for your skin during winter, but the same may not be right for the summer months. It is therefore recommended that you lighten up your moisturizer during summer. This must be enough to combat the dryness and flaking caused due to your acne treatment system. Choose the moisturizer that is labeled as noncomedogenic and oil-free.

You must also use a good sunscreen when you step out in the sun. Some of the acne treatment medications which contain Retin-A and BenzaClin make your skin very sensitive to the skin. Protect your skin against damages and tans by using a good sunscreen.

Take a shower after you sweat

Excessive sweating can cause inflammation of the acne. It is important that you shower after you sweat. Clean your body with a good body wash which contains salicylic acid. If your skin is prone to acne breakouts, then you can opt for body washes containing over-the-counter acne treatment ingredients such as sulfur and resorcinol. This can help in considerably reducing breakouts and speeding up the acne treatment process.
